Std viii- Love is in the air

In the rainy season of 1993 as we progressed from Std 7 to Std 8 there was a feeling like entering into adulthood. We no longer had to wear half pants. We all stitched trousers having latest fashion at that point of time. I went for baggy fittings. The class was new, teachers were new, syllabus was new except for friends. Since we all looked different in our trousers it was not the same for girls, which was quite disappointing. There was a general feeling amongst boys that we are now matured and are able to take our own decisions. Most of them started taking decisions. Not about the careers they wanna pursue but which girl they would go for.
Almost 90% of them had identified their crushes and started plotting ways to woo them. Most of the boys having crushes on girls were well known hence we all teased & embarrass them in front of the girls during the moral science classes. Love was really in the air.
Since almost all had their crushes finalized how can chintu be left behind. There was this boy called CHINTU. He too had crush on one such girl but he never revealed it to anyone. We kept on asking him about that girl but he refused. Since I was an stage actor at that point of time I knew how to crack the chintu nut. I told chintu that I was responsible for getting together lot of couples I would like to help him if he needs any. Chintu started thinking. After the short recess he came and sat on my bench and promised me to show the girl of his dream after school gets over. As the final bell rang my curiosity started rising in the anticipation of being the first person to witness chintus crush. Myself and chintu came outside the school premises and chintu waited for his girl of dreams to come. The girls took time to come out as their class was located in the next wing. Soon buses entered the school premises carrying girls and boys of primary school. The students of primary school started to line up for their assembly. Alternate rows of girls and boys of 4th std were seen lined up for assembly and we students of secondary school were busy heading back home for the classes to attend later in the day. There was no sign of chintus girl. Soon 3-4 girls walked past near the 4th std girls class. Chintu pointed out and said that’s my girl. All 3 were beautiful and down to earth. I started wondering who amongst them were unlucky to capture chintus heart. I could not figure out who the girl was and asked to chintu to help me out. Soon chintu said that the girl who he would touch on head is the one and he straight headed towards the 3 of them. I could not stop him and he was quite capable of getting a sandal in return for his act. He went and touched a girl on back of her head and shouted shes the one. What happened next would go down as the most funniest incident I have ever seen in my life and no other incidents come as close to this one.
Chintu pointed out the girl who was standing behind those 3 beautiful girls. The girl was a std iv primary girl standing in line for assembly. That teenage girl stayed in chintus locality. On seeing chintu she shoughted back- CHINTU BHAIYYA. I could not stop laughing every time I remember this incident. More than the incident I could not forget chintus embarrassed face. Afterall how can u fall in love with someone who is 4 years younger to you that too in school. But for chintu all rules are ment to be broken. That’s the way chintu was. After school I never met him but this incident wins hands down as one of the funniest love incident I ever witnessed in my life.
